Challenge
Setup an efficient, process driven, comprehensive testing capability that is readily available to equipment manufacturers to efficiently and economically certify their devices as compliant to the BACnet standard from a functionality and interoperability standpoint.
To setup a scalable operation to adapt to the growth of new BACnet devices entering the market place.
Solution
SoftDEL setup the BACnet certification lab from scratch, including hardware and software tool customization. Our technical teams built a scripting engine to be able to configure and setup specialized tests for devices.
An efficient and comprehensive process based approach was put in place. The lab follows ISO17025 processes.
Impact
The BACnet / building automation industry has made full use of this opportunity to ensure their BACnet based devices are compliant to the standard and interoperable with other BACnet based products. This creates a foundation for fully interoperable building automation devices and protects the end customer from being locked in to a single vendor.
