Roles & Responsibilities:
Documentation/Design
- Review new controller design specifications and engineering documentation to ensure that elevator control system has been engineered correctly from an electrical and electronics perspective.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system specifications, integration plans, test procedures, and user manuals.
- Configure and program elevator control systems, ensuring proper functionality, safety, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Conduct thorough assessments of existing elevator systems, identifying potential integration challenges and proposing solutions to address them.
- Design, plan, and execute the integration of elevator systems into larger building automation solutions, ensuring seamless communication and interoperability with other systems such as access control, security, and energy management.
Floor Shop/On Site Activities:
- Perform system-level testing and validation of integrated elevator systems, identifying and resolving any issues or malfunctions.
- Provide training and support to end-users, building operators, and maintenance personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of integrated elevator systems.
Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and technical expert for elevator systems within our organization.
- Collaborate with software developers and engineers to develop custom software interfaces.
- Collaborate with product development teams to provide input and insights for the design and improvement of elevator products and solutions.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and develop comprehensive integration strategies for elevator systems.
- Act as a point of contact for escalations and complex technical issues related to elevators, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement solutions.
Industry:
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulations related to elevator systems and building automation.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on elevator-related topics and produce reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
- Extensive experience as a System Integrator and SME in the Elevator domain, with a deep understanding of elevator control systems, protocols, and technologies.
- Strong knowledge of elevator industry standards and regulations, such as ASME A17.1, EN 81, and other NA local codes.
- Experience with elevator system integration in complex building automation projects, including integration with access control, security, and energy management systems.
- Familiarity with industry-standard communication protocols used in elevator systems, such as Modbus, BACnet, or LonWorks.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD (must), elevator simulation software, or other industry-specific applications.
Good to Have:
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as IoT, AI, and data analytics, and their applications in the elevator industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in elevator control system programming languages, such as ElevatorML, LiftML, or similar.
